The Most Common Card Decline Message

"There was an error processing your request. The card is being declined by your payment provider. Try contacting your payment provider to resolve the issue, or use a different payment method. "

If you're receiving this card decline message, there are a couple different reasons to consider:

  • Your card is declining because of your bank's proactivity! Banks track spending patterns, and if the card you're using is usually used to purchase other things and not typically costumes or costume accessories, your bank likely assumes that transactions are fraudulent and is placing a block on the account. This is fairly common to see with some banks.

Resolution: Reach out to your bank to let them know that, as the card holder, you are trying to authorize the transaction relevant to our company. At that point, the bank should then release the hold. After which, you should be free of problems after you attempt to re-run the card for the transaction. If the card does not go through after the bank clears the authorization hold, you may need to utilize a different credit card.

  • The card you're attempting to use for the transaction currently has reached its limit use.Different banks and different customers establish purchase limits, and if the card you're attempting to use has reached that spending limit, the transaction will deny.

Resolution: You guessed it: reach out to your bank to clarify the issue. You may need to increase that particular card's spending limit to prevent credit card denials in the future. If the card does not go through after the bank clears the authorization hold, you may need to utilize a different credit card.
